President Obama has capitulated to criticism from French President Nicolas Sarkozy and other foreign leaders. Last week, Obama announced that he would visit the global warming summit in Copenhagen on December 9, a convenient stop on the way to accepting the Nobel Peace Price in Oslo on December 10.
As previously reported by Florida Pundit, Sarkozy told Obama that he needs to be in Copenhagen at the end of the summit on December 17 – 18 when the final deal to impose a new world order will be made by 85+ heads of states.
Eager to please international opinion rather than representing US interests Obama has adjusted his plans and will be in Copenhagen on December 18. The UK Guardian reports:
Barack Obama has bowed to international appeals for America to demonstrate commitment to action on global warming, and said he will join other world leaders for the crunch negotiating sessions of the Copenhagen climate change summit.
The White House, in a statement from the press secretary, Robert Gibbs, last night said Obama would adjust his original travel schedule, under which he would have dropped in on the summit on 9 December, en route to receiving his Nobel peace prize in Oslo.
“The president believes that continued US leadership can be most productive through his participation at the end of the Copenhagen conference on December 18th,” the statement said. “There are still outstanding issues that must be negotiated for an agreement to be reached, but this decision reflects the president’s commitment to doing all he can to pursue a positive outcome.”
Obama has already stated that he will support an agreement to reduce carbon emissions by 83 percent by the year 2050, a goal that would damage the economies of the US and other industrialized countries. The agreement will also include wealth transfers from the US to developing nations. Who is Obama’s constituency? The American people or global leaders of a movement to limit democracy and US sovereignty?
