“The Most Productive Congress in Generations” or Why Productivity is Not Always A Good Thing

December 26, 2010

The media and the Obama administrations are touting the “productivity” of the Congress that just concluded its seemingly eternal lame duck session. They fail to recognize that producing lots of legislation is usually not a good thing especially when it expands the role of government, makes a mockery of the Constitution and goes against the will of the majority of the American people. Mocking the will of voters by passing bill after bill in the lame duck Congress was certainly one of the most disgusting abuses of power in decades.

Next time you hear someone complain that Congress does not do enough, explain to them the virtue of politicians doing little or nothing: by doing nothing they will do no harm.
